CONTINUOUS
ROTARY VACUUM FILTER USE
|

They are used for the LIQUID-SOLID separation through a filtering
support which may be: a cloth, a net or an aggregate coat (diatomite
or other things). Utilizing vacuum on the filtration equipment,
the liquid is separated from the solid. The filtered liquid is conveyed
to a suitabie receiver automatically, while the solid is discharged
continually by an appropriate discharge system selected in relation
to the characteristic of the product to be filtered.
CONTINUOUS ROTARY VACUUM FILTERS are made in several versions:

ROTARY
DRUM FILTERS

They are generally used in most cases owing to their constructive
simplicity and fitness for the filtration of innumerable products.
The DRUM FILTER consist of the following:

Drum
|
Subdivided into a determinate compartment number (from
12 to 24 in relation to filter size). From every compartment, on
the inside of the drum, a suitable heade conveys to the feeder valve
the filtered liquid. On the outside of the drum the filtering support
(cloth or other things is inserted. |

Valve
|
Normally subdivided into two parts in order to obtain
the separation of two zones: The immersed part of the drum and the
non-immersed drying part. Further subdivisions are allowed to be
introduced in particular cases. |

Tank

Containing the slurry to be filtered, with immersed
drum from 20% to 35% of surface. |

Rake
Agitor
|
In continuous reciprocating movement in order to maintain
in suspension the solids. |

Transmission
|
For the continuous rotation of the drum with speed
variator system. |

Discharge
Device
|
Discharge of solid cake, selected among FIVE different
interchangeable systems and just:
Scraper For slurry
with percentage of solids over 5% and easy separation characteristic
of the solid from the filtering support.
Belt For Slurry
with percentage of solids over 5% and light obstruetion characteristic
of filtering cloth. The cloth comes out from the drum in order to
be washed in countercurrent at every rotation and comes back to
the drum through a three roll system.
Roll For slurry
with low percentage of solids and easy transfer characteristic to
the roll, adherent to the drum. The discharge is carried out with
scraper adherent to the roll.
Strings For slurry
with characteristic of non-easy separation of solid cake from the
filtering support. The strings are incorporated in the cake and
come out from the drum discharging the solid. The strings come back
to the drum guided by a two roll and separation comb system.
Precoat A DIATOMITE
coat (Precoat) is prepared on the drum. It is used for slurry with
low percentage of solids and fine granulometry of the particles,
tending to the easy obstruction of the filtering support. The scraper
moves forward with micrometric movement, removing a thin coat diatomite
cake containing the separated solids. It is used when the only utilization
of the filtered liquid interests from the separation. |
